It's 3:21pm on Wednesday and the doctor just left... Dad is cleared for surgery which will start around 8am tomorrow morning and last anywhere from 5-6 hours depending on how things go.
Being Dad, he wanted to know what his odds were, and the doctor said replied better then 95%. So that is excellent.
Tonight he'll get some medication to calm his nerves, which have been extremely elevated, so he can get a good nights sleep. Now if they could only get Mom some of that same medicine. :)
